Can anyone help in the meeting with the school?
Bringing an outside person into the meeting can prevent threats and the playing down of the problem, and help ensure correct minutes and good measures.
Parents are in a difficult and vulnerable situation when their child is suffering, and they depend on the school to get the problem solved. For most people it is an unfamiliar situation.
The helper can be someone with experience of bullying cases, or with legal expertise. A helper will not be as emotionally affected as the parents, which can make it easier to focus on the issue and the solution.
If your case is upheld by Statsforvalteren (the County Governor), you can apply to have the costs incurred in the complaint case reimbursed, including legal fees. (The right to have legal costs covered has followed from the Public Administration Act (forvaltningsloven) § 36; the applicable legal basis after the introduction of the new Public Administration Act has not been verified as of July 2026 — for legal clarification within FOMIS.)
