How can the school improve?
Some schools are unsure how to go about improving the school environment. There is a range of resources available to the school.

Several municipalities have established response teams with multidisciplinary expertise that can assist in bullying cases. It is worth checking whether your municipality or county has such a team. The municipality or county may have a trygg-kontakt (a designated safety contact), a preferred anti-bullying programme, a mobbeombud (a bullying ombudsman) or other relevant services.
Utdanningsdirektoratet (the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training) keeps an overview of various resources against bullying, including recommended anti-bullying programmes and teams that can assist schools. Financial support is available for the use of approved programmes. In Norway we have two of the world’s leading research communities on bullying: Læringsmiljøsenteret (the Norwegian Centre for Learning Environment) at UiS (the University of Stavanger) and Olweussenteret at UiB (the University of Bergen). The school can contact Utdanningsdirektoratet for guidance.
The school can seek advice from Statsforvalteren (the County Governor), who can give guidance on resolving bullying cases.
Parents can put forward proposals for solving the environment problems, but have no right to decide which measures are implemented. The child’s statutory right is the right to a good and safe school environment.
