The minutes do not match the meeting

The minutes go into the child's case file and may matter in a later complaint case. Here is how to demand a correction when the minutes do not match what was said.

Even if you come well prepared to the meeting with the school, and conduct it as described earlier, you may find that the minutes differ from what was actually said in the meeting. The minutes are a document that goes into the child’s case file, and may turn up in any complaint case, at PPT (the educational psychology service) and with other bodies.

If there are errors in the minutes, we recommend sending the school a correction and asking for new minutes. If possible, get a signature from others who were present if they can confirm the family’s version, or document the errors in the minutes in some other way.

If the school does not produce new minutes, you can ask for your correction to be filed together with the minutes. Keep the correction as documentation. It is worth requesting access to the child’s file and checking that the information is correct.
